A now serving board for your counter or waiting room
People wait more calmly when they can see the queue move. This page shows a large now-serving number, up to six next in line, and a rough wait, on a screen or on people's phones through a QR code. Change the number with a message, and the board updates on every open copy.
When to use it
- A walk-in repair counter has people standing around, unsure if they've been forgotten.
- A vaccination or flu clinic wants the queue visible from the car park.
- A market stall or food truck calls out order numbers.
- A busy Saturday means you'd like customers browsing next door, not crowding the counter.
What a good one includes
- A number big enough to read from the back of the room.
- A short list of who's up next, so people can prepare.
- A rough wait in minutes, updated when things slip.
- A note saying what to do while waiting.
- A clear 'not taking more today' flag, which saves a late arrival from joining a dead queue.
Make one by saying what you need
Text it, type it or say it, the way you'd tell a colleague:
Now serving board for Quickfix Phone Repair: now serving A12, next A13, A14 and A15, about 15 minutes.
Questions
Do I need a special screen?
No. Any TV, tablet or laptop with a web browser can show it, and customers can open the same page on their phones.
Can customers take a number from the page?
No. It only shows the queue. Use paper tickets or a list at the counter.
Does it text people when they're next?
No. Customers watch the page, so ask them to scan the QR code before they wander off.
