A before and after gallery of your work

A customer can't judge a tiler by reading about tiling. This page puts before-and-after pairs side by side with a title and short note, followed by a captioned grid of other jobs. Upload pictures under the page's Data tab, paste their links in, and you have something to send when someone asks to see your work.

When to use it

  • A prospect asks 'have you done one like mine?'.
  • A painter, cleaner or landscaper has a phone full of great photos nobody sees.
  • You've no website and want a link to put on quotes.
  • A wedding florist or cake maker wants a portfolio for enquiries.

What a good one includes

  • Matching pairs, shot from the same spot, because the comparison is the whole effect.
  • A title that says the job and the area, like 'Bathroom, Elm Street'.
  • A one-line note with a useful fact, such as the time it took.
  • A smaller grid of other jobs to show range.
  • Your best recent work first, since most people stop after a few.

Make one by saying what you need

Text it, type it or say it, the way you'd tell a colleague:

Gallery for Greenway Paving: before and after pairs of the Ash Road driveway and the Mill Close patio, plus four photos of recent steps.

Worth knowing. Photos are cropped to a landscape 4:3 shape, so a tall phone shot loses its top and bottom. Hold the phone sideways. Take the 'before' photo before you unpack, because you can't go back for it. Ask customers before showing their home or anything that identifies them, and leave out house numbers and number plates.

Questions

Do I need permission to post photos of a customer's home?

It's good practice to ask, and privacy or data protection rules may require it, especially where people are identifiable. Get a clear yes in writing.

How do I add pictures?

Upload them under the page's Data tab, then paste each picture's link into the page's data.

How many photos should I show?

A handful of strong jobs beats dozens of average ones. Five or six pairs is plenty for most trades.
