An opening hours page with a holiday notice
'Are you open?' is probably the most common question a small business gets. This page answers it with today's row highlighted, an open or closed badge, and a notice for anything unusual, along with your address, directions and a number to tap. Change the notice with a message when a holiday comes up.
When to use it
- You don't have a website and need something to link from your social profiles.
- Your hours change with the seasons.
- A public holiday is coming and you want one place to say so.
- Customers struggle to find you, and you need to explain where to park.
What a good one includes
- All seven days, with closed days marked, so nobody has to guess about Sundays.
- A notice for anything out of the ordinary, in plain dates.
- A full address and a directions line, like 'behind the garden centre'.
- A phone number that dials on a tap.
- A note on after-hours help, if you offer it.
Make one by saying what you need
Text it, type it or say it, the way you'd tell a colleague:
Hours page for Rosie's Hardware: Monday to Friday 8 to 6, Saturday 9 to 2, closed Sunday, parking at the back, closed Labor Day.
Questions
Will this update my Google listing?
No. Your Business Profile on Google is separate, so change your hours there as well when they change.
How does the page know if I'm open?
It compares your hours with the time on the visitor's phone, so someone in a different time zone may see a different answer.
