Keep the column full, even when a three-hour colour doesn't show

Your column is the business. A colour that doesn't turn up can't be resold at 2pm on a Thursday, and you can't answer messages with foils in both hands. New clients find you on Instagram at 10pm, so the link in your bio has to do the talking while you're asleep.

A working week, in pages

10pm on Instagram

Someone has saved your balayage reel and wants to know how much and when, and you won't see the message until tomorrow's first break. One branded page in your bio takes them to booking, prices and your reviews in a tap each.

links: book, price list from $65, instagram, google reviews

About the link page template

"How much for a full head?"

It depends on length, thickness and who does it, and you don't want to quote that by message and get held to it. List services as from-prices, with a note on what moves them. When your colour costs go up, change the page by text and the salon's QR code stays put.

prices: cut and blow-dry from $65, full head foils from $180, balayage from $240, lash lift $75, long hair extra

The 2pm that doesn't show

Clients book on impulse and forget by the time it comes round. Your booking page sends a reminder first, with a link to move or cancel up to your cutoff. The client who'd have quietly stayed home can hand the slot back while you can still fill it.

Holding four hours of balayage

You've blocked out a Saturday morning for a new client who has paid you nothing. Send a deposit request once they've booked, with the date, the total and what's left to pay on the day. A stranger with $70 in is a different booking from a stranger with a name in your book.

Before the tint goes on

Before a lash tint or a first colour you want past reactions and patch-test details in writing. Send the form ahead so it comes back signed with a finger, not filled in at the basin. What you have to ask depends on where you are and on your insurer.

The wedding party

The bride wants a trial, then hair and make-up for five, starting at 7am in a hotel an hour away. Put travel and the early start on their own lines so nobody queries the total. The valid-until date means you aren't holding a June Saturday forever, and she accepts with a deposit.

Questions

Can a booking take a deposit at the same time?

Not on the same page. The booking page holds the time, and a deposit request is a separate link you send after it, and that link needs your own Stripe set up behind it. It's worth keeping that for long colours and first-time clients.

I rent a chair. Does the money come to me or the salon?

If you set up your own account and connect your own Stripe, payments go to your bank. The logo, colours and client pages are yours as well, so they move with you if you change chairs.

Can a client buy a gift voucher for a friend and have it spent over several visits?

Yes. You make each voucher with its own code and text the link to whoever is paying, and your terms can say it works across visits. The page doesn't keep a running balance, so note what's been used against the code at the desk.
