A service agreement your client can sign on their phone
A service agreement sets out what you'll do, what it costs and what happens when things change. This page shows your terms in numbered sections, and the client signs with a typed name, a tick and a drawn signature if they like. You're told as soon as it's signed. The terms are yours to write, so have them reviewed if the stakes are high.
When to use it
- A yearly maintenance plan where cover and exclusions need spelling out.
- A freelancer starting a project who wants the scope agreed before any work.
- A cleaner or gardener taking on regular work for a business.
- An existing handshake arrangement that's grown large enough to write down.
What a good one includes
- Who the parties are, using full names and any business name.
- What you'll deliver and, just as important, what's excluded.
- The fee, when it's due and how it renews.
- How either side can end it, with notice periods.
- A start date, plus an end date or renewal term.
- What happens when things go wrong, like access problems or late payment.
Make one by saying what you need
Text it, type it or say it, the way you'd tell a colleague:
Service agreement for Bright Sparks Cleaning and Oakfield Offices: twice-weekly clean, $900 a month, starts March 1, 30 days' notice to cancel.
Questions
Is a typed name a valid signature?
Often, yes. Many countries accept electronic signatures for ordinary business contracts, including the US and EU, though some documents are excluded. Check for your type of agreement.
Can I use this as a legal template?
It gives you a structure and a way to get a signature, not legal advice. The wording is yours, so a lawyer should look at anything high value or regulated.
Does the client get a copy?
They can download a PDF of the page. Do the same for your own records.
