A renewal notice for plans, contracts and policies
A renewal notice tells a customer that something they rely on is about to end, and what continuing costs. This page shows the end date, the term, the price with last year's struck through, and what's covered. They tap to renew, renew and pay, or say not this time.
When to use it
- An annual service plan ends next month and you want the customer to act before it lapses.
- A maintenance contract is going up in price and you'd rather explain that than have it discovered.
- A yearly membership, licence or support agreement was paid once and doesn't bill by itself.
- You're clearing out plans nobody uses, and a clear no is as useful as a yes.
What a good one includes
- The exact end date, the first thing a busy customer looks for.
- How long the renewal runs, since 'renew' alone doesn't tell them what they're committing to.
- The old and new price together. Hiding an increase costs more trust than the increase does.
- What's included, because people forget what they're paying for by month eleven.
- One sentence on what changed and why, or a plain note that nothing has.
- What happens if they do nothing. Spell out whether the plan simply ends.
Make one by saying what you need
Text it, type it or say it, the way you'd tell a colleague:
Renewal for Carla's window cleaning plan at Clearview: ends March 3, 12 months, was $300 now $330, take payment on the page.
Questions
How far ahead should I send a renewal notice?
About a month works for most service plans, longer for anything the customer has to budget for. If your contract sets a notice period, that decides it.
Does this charge the customer automatically?
No. Nothing is charged unless they tap the payment button, which needs Stripe connected and payment switched on for that page. For billing that repeats by itself, use the membership page instead.
How should I word a price rise?
Give the new figure, the old figure and the reason in one sentence. Keep it factual and don't apologise at length.
