A donation page with amounts people can tap

Asking for a gift works better when the amount is already there to tap. This page offers a few preset amounts, each with a label saying what it buys, an optional bar towards a goal, and a thank-you. It runs on your Stripe account, so a club, a cause or a musician's tip jar can all use it.

When to use it

  • A community group wants to pay for something specific, like a garden shed.
  • A busker, barista or tour guide wants a QR code for tips.
  • A school or sports club is collecting for a trip.
  • Someone asked 'how do I support you?' and you had no good answer.

What a good one includes

  • A specific reason to give. 'New tool shed' beats 'support our work'.
  • Three or four amounts with labels, so each gift feels concrete.
  • A small first option, which gives people an easy way in.
  • The organiser's name, so supporters know who gets the money.
  • A goal, if you have one, with an honest running total.
  • A line on what happens next, such as photos of the finished beds.

Make one by saying what you need

Text it, type it or say it, the way you'd tell a colleague:

Donation page for Eastside Youth Football: new kit for the under-12s, $10, $25, $50, $100, goal $3,000, $900 raised so far.

Worth knowing. Supporters can only choose the amounts you set, as there's no type-your-own box. Gifts paid on the page move the bar by themselves, so use the raised figure only for money that came in elsewhere, such as cash at an event. Your thank-you shows once they've paid. Don't call gifts tax deductible unless you've confirmed that for your organisation, and check whether your state or country requires registration to ask for money.

Questions

Can anyone collect donations online?

Often yes for personal tips and informal causes, but charitable fundraising can require registration in some places, and Stripe has its own rules. Check both before you start.

Does this give donors a tax receipt?

No. Whether a gift can be deducted turns on how you're set up and on local law, and any formal receipt is yours to issue.

Where does the money go?

To the Stripe account you connected, then to your bank. Stripe's fees apply.
